The Google AdWords Professionals programme was launched in 2004 in response to the growing need for consultants to help manage the increasing number of AdWords accounts.
‘Why would anyone need help, it’s easy isn’t it?’ Running with that philosophy we’d all be mending our own car and cutting our own hair. It is ever changing, time consuming, potentially costly and labour intensive.
In April, 2010 the GAP programme was retired and replaced with the Google AdWords Certified Partner Program. Partners have to have an active AdWords Client Centre with a pre-defined spend and pass multiple exams, demonstrating their in-depth knowledge of AdWords and its benefits to their clients. And then to keep us on our toes they changed their minds again and introduced the Google Partners programme in September 2013: ‘Google Partners are online marketing companies, trusted by Google. The badge recognises companies that excel with Google’s products. Their businesses are healthy, their customers are happy, and they use Google best practices. Look for the badge.’
