International Women’s Day

Thursday 5th March saw the inaugural St Albans District Chamber of Commerce International Women’s Day event. The brain child of Anna Venetico, the St Albans Chamber of Commerce in association with My Mustard and Rayner Essex held a lunch at the wonderful St Michael’s Manor in St Albans, with sponsors SA Law and Rayden Solicitors.
When June attended her very first St Albans Chamber of Commerce event in 2004, there were 97 men in the room and 3 women. How times change…97 women and 3 men from St Albans and the surrounding district attended the lunch and listened to the fascinating career of the amazing speaker Louise Hardy, who talked about her pathway to success as a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Our very own June was the Master of Ceremonies and hosted an interactive discussion on issues from the Gender Pay Gap and STEM in education to the Glass Ceiling and Role Models. How fantastic to see people in every age group from teens to 70, coming together at this wonderful event!
An amazing £1,272.77 was raised for nominated local charity Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline, which will give 85 hours of helpline support.
