Don’t be shy, add to our food bank – Georgia

As mentioned in my previous blog, my role in the Team Connection project is Care – as part of this I have set up our own My Mustard food bank so we can regularly donate to the Trussell Trust who are also our chosen charity for this year. The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks and support the 14 million people in the UK who are locked in poverty, including 4.5 million children.

These numbers never fail to shock me.

So far we are doing well, we have a large box full of goodies to donate ranging from healthy options to naughty sweet treats – but we are not going to stop. We will be inviting employees from the other companies in our building to donate, and when we have handed our donations over we will start all over again. If you are popping in to see us then why not add to our food bank – food items currently needed are:
– Long life milk
– Cereal bars
– Tinned potatoes
– Tinned fish (mackerel/sardines/salmon)
– Rice pudding
– Long life fruit juice
– Savoury crackers

Between 15-17th July, the Trussell Trust, along with Tesco are organising the biggest food collection. As an office we plan to support them by giving up an hour of our time to volunteer in our local Tesco store to help spread the word, create awareness and encourage people to donate. For those who know June (and lets face it there aren’t many of you who don’t), you may well spot her at one of the many events she attends (when possible) holding her charity tin. So don’t be shy, lets all pull together and help the campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

In other news we are STILL walking across the USA – in fact we are only 39% of the way and are currently having a little rest in Denver.
